Family transitions

Updated: Jun 4, 2023

Birth is a survival event for both parent and child. I heard this in a training the other day and it rings so true. Each pregnancy, each birth, each baby into the world marks this evolution. At a physiological level this is also true as birth is such an incredibly transformative event for parent and baby.

At a personal level I'm feeling this now as I consider how I will evolve as I am now a parent to four children (with the fourth wriggling in my womb as I write). My role in birthwork will undoubtedly shift, at least temporarily, as I take the time I need to heal and tend a newborn. Advocacy, birth and service work are in my soul; I will find lasting ways to fold these into my life and profession. For now, sitting with the unknown and grateful for all that I have.

Did I do it? Did I blog? :)
